AWC and SCB Support Woeng Nakornkasem Yaowaraj with THB 40.5 Billion Financing

AWC and SCB have signed a THB 40.5 billion sustainability-linked financing package to support landmark tourism developments, including Woeng Nakornkasem Yaowaraj in Bangkok’s Chinatown.

Asset World Corp Public Company Limited, or AWC, and Siam Commercial Bank, SCB, have signed a THB 40.5 billion sustainability-linked financing package to support the long-term growth of Thailand’s tourism and real estate sectors.

A key part of this financing is a THB 10.5 billion loan allocated to Woeng Nakornkasem Yaowaraj, AWC’s largest landmark mixed-use development in Bangkok’s historic Chinatown.

A New Landmark for Bangkok Chinatown

Woeng Nakornkasem Yaowaraj is located on more than 14 rai in the heart of Yaowarat, one of Bangkok’s oldest and most culturally important districts.

The project is designed to transform this historic area into a world-class lifestyle and tourism destination while preserving its Thai-Chinese cultural identity. Its concept, “Legacy of the Past, Inspiration of Tomorrow,” reflects the ambition to connect heritage, community and modern hospitality.

Luxury Hotels, Retail and Cultural Spaces

The development will include two luxury hotels, InterContinental Bangkok Chinatown and Kimpton Bangkok Chinatown, along with premium retail areas, cultural spaces, a contemporary Chinese pavilion and community-focused facilities.

AWC is also collaborating with Universal Destinations & Experiences on a Kung Fu Panda-themed experience inspired by Yaowarat’s identity and Chinese heritage. This could help attract families, international visitors and new tourism flows into Bangkok Chinatown.

Why This Project Matters

For Bangkok, Woeng Nakornkasem Yaowaraj is more than a real estate project. It is a major heritage-led urban renewal project that aims to create long-term value for tourism, local businesses and the wider community.

The financing agreement with SCB also highlights the growing importance of sustainable development in Thailand’s property sector, with funding linked to ESG goals and long-term economic impact.

Investment Perspective

Yaowarat is already one of Bangkok’s strongest cultural and commercial destinations. With new luxury hotels, retail, attractions and improved tourism infrastructure, the area could become even more attractive for hospitality, retail and real estate investors.

For buyers and investors watching Bangkok’s urban transformation, Woeng Nakornkasem Yaowaraj is one of the most important mixed-use projects to follow before its expected full opening in 2029.

Conclusion

The THB 40.5 billion financing partnership between AWC and SCB marks a major step for sustainable tourism development in Thailand.

With Woeng Nakornkasem Yaowaraj, Bangkok Chinatown is set to gain a new landmark that blends Thai-Chinese heritage, luxury hospitality, cultural experiences and long-term investment value.
