Hatai Bangkok: The New Narai Hotel Landmark Rising on Silom Road

Hatai Bangkok is now clearly taking shape on Silom Road, and the project looks remarkably close to its original design vision.

Built on the former Narai Hotel site, Hatai is a complete redevelopment of one of Bangkok’s most iconic hospitality addresses. Instead of renovating the old structure, Narai Hospitality Group has demolished the former hotel buildings and is creating a new mixed-use landmark from the ground up.

A New Chapter for Narai Hotel

The project will bring back Narai Hotel as part of The Unbound Collection by Hyatt, with around 245 rooms. This marks the return of a Silom icon, reimagined for a new generation while keeping a connection to the site’s history.

Hatai will also feature Six Senses Bangkok, an intimate luxury hotel with around 100 rooms and suites. The hotel is expected to include a 700 sq.m. suite, wellness spaces, a spa, restaurants and a strong focus on sustainable luxury.

Designed by Heatherwick Studio

Hatai Bangkok is designed by Heatherwick Studio, the internationally renowned British design studio led by Thomas Heatherwick. It is also the studio’s first project in Thailand.

The architecture is inspired by traditional Thai lanterns, creating a warm and distinctive building form that should make Hatai one of the most recognizable new landmarks in Bangkok.

Hotels, Retail and Public Space

Beyond the two hotels, Hatai will include retail, dining, wellness areas, cultural spaces and public areas designed to bring life back to street level.

One of the most interesting features is the integration of water and greenery into the project, including a restored canal running through the public realm. This gives Hatai a softer and more local character compared with a typical urban mixed-use development.

Construction and Opening Timeline

Construction is being handled by Thai Obayashi, one of Thailand’s leading contractors for large-scale, high-quality projects.

According to official project information, Hatai is scheduled to open in Q4 2027, while Narai Hotel by Hyatt is expected to reopen in early 2028.
