Hatai Bangkok: Silom's New Landmark Takes Shape
Hatai is transforming the former Narai Hotel site on Silom Road. Discover its lantern-inspired design, two hotel brands and the latest financing and opening plans.
Hatai Bangkok is giving the former Narai Hotel site a new identity. Developed by Narai Hospitality Group on Silom Road, the mixed-use destination will combine two hotels with retail, dining and public spaces, framed by Heatherwick Studio’s distinctive architecture.
A New Milestone for Hatai Bangkok
On 23 September 2026, Kasikornbank announced financing for the redevelopment. Its update identifies a 245-room Narai Hotel, joining The Unbound Collection by Hyatt, and a 101-room Six Senses Bangkok, alongside more than 6,000 square metres of retail and community space. The nearly 11,000-square-metre figure refers to the development site, not a dedicated public garden. Read Kasikornbank’s announcement.
Architecture Inspired by Thai Craftsmanship
Hatai’s sculptural forms draw inspiration from traditional Thai lanterns and Khon masks, giving the development an architectural identity rooted in local culture. Explore Hatai’s design concept. At street level, Heatherwick Studio’s plans include planting, a restored canal and 5,200 square metres of new public space, including elevated walkways. The ambition extends beyond hotel accommodation to creating places where people can meet and spend time. View the architect’s project overview.
